Suvhkovit Road

We decided to go directly from the river via train to Suvhkovit Road to find some dinner and do a little people watching.  We stopped at an outdoor restaurant called Ana Garden which was recommended in our guidebook.  The traffic outside was a bit loud which hurt the ambiance but the place was decked out like an oasis in the jungle.  We ended up ordering way too much food including a green lentil salad, hot curry, and a whole sea bass!  We also guzzled down a couple pints of local beer to refresh ourselves and rehydrate after the hot afternoon.

Nana Plaza was nearby and has the reputation for being part of the Red Light District.  It seemed pretty tame to us -- perhaps we were there a little too early.  We wandered around the neighborhood a bit but people were mostly just chilling out, listening to music, and having a drink.  The other thing that was very interesting about Bangkok was that there were blind singers everywhere.  They typically traveled in pairs and slowly walked up the street with a microphone and speaker belting out melodic tunes.  Their voices were pretty amazing.  I can't imagine how challenging it must be to navigate a crowded, chaotic city like Bangkok when you can't see.

We called it a night relatively early and headed back to our hotel.
